Bucket Fillers

Jana Payne is making her presence known down the 3rd grade hallway. It is no doubt she has the work ethic to fit in well with our high performing team. She is here, a lot, and working hard to prepare her classroom for students. Welcome to our CRE Family, Jana!!!

Nancy Brashers, Whitney Mosley, and Daralyn Scroggins have stepped up to serve their team well. As grade reps, a lot of details fall on their shoulders. They were troopers to step up during the leadership team meeting and begin to take action, immediately. We are in good hands with these ladies as members of our leadership team. #heroesintraining

Nurse Leigh Ann is already coming through for us and she hasn’t even reported back to work yet. What a gift it is to reach out to her as an expert in her field with a request and her reply to be so pleasant, prompt, and student focused. You make us better, Nurse Leigh Ann!!

I am thrilled to spend some time with our new CRE teachers at workshop 101, visit with friends at the article club meeting, and check in on our PBIS team as they prep for the year ahead. I will have to find time to check on the progress on the playground 3 or 4 times as well. It is a busy day here at CRE!!

Let me know what we can do to help you in the days ahead! Here to serve!

First Day

What a great start to the 2015-16 school year. It was so great to hear the way we were guiding and directing students and helping them connect with the staff here at CRE. I understand the first few weeks are exhausting with reinforcing expectations but that has not taken away from the back to school excitement for students and families. One of our community pillars here in Branson is our school district, I am proud of the communication and atmosphere exemplified here at CRE. Thank you for your attention to the “little things” because they matter and make a difference for kids.

Car loop went really well yesterday. We had just a few missing car tags and students were directed to the office to meet their parents.

CRE Family News

Pam Grisham’s father in-law passed away suddenly this week. She will out today and as needed to help her family with the needs that come with a sudden passing of loved one. Our hearts and prayers are with Pam and her sweet family.

Thank you all for my sweet Birthday Wishes! Really, I have done everything from “raisin the roof” to a “dance gram.” What a day of fun!

600+ Birthday Wishes is one way to soften the blow of the big 40!

Contest

I am sharing a contest information sheet you are welcome to share with families or incorporate into a morning class meeting. If you are participating all entries are due to the office by Sept. 18th at 2:00 p.m. (the date is on the CRE calendar) I will make arrangements for bank personnel to pick up from CRE on this date, there is no need to contact them directly. Please shoot me an email and let me know how you will share this with your students if you plan to do so. It could serve as an extended learning opportunity for families to enjoy as well.

Barbara Head has been a great addition to our CRE Family. She was engaging with first graders and helpful with morning routines. Welcome to the SHOW!

Ellie Brubaker has had nothing but positive comments to share about her 2nd graders. It is a pleasure to see her interactions and the joy that comes from a new year.

Shannon Juett had kind words to share about our school district. She is digging in with her kiddos and working on building that critical connection. We are sure glad you are here, Shannon.

First Day

Take a minute to review a few inspiring quote to set the stage for the First Day of School! Your influence is powerful, use it to better the life of a child and family that you serve.

I am honored and proud to be the Principal at Cedar Ridge Elementary. You have all proven you commitment time to excellence time and time again as you have prepared for your student’s first day at CRE. Thank  you for taking the time to create a learning environment that hosts a sense of community and safety for all who enter. As you turn your focus now to the teaching and learning details of school life, I anticipate the same level of commitment to exist in your daily instruction and modeling. Help colleagues remain focused on filling both the mind and buckets of our young learners, and understanding the gravity of your daily interactions.  This is going to be a fabulous school year full of growth for each individual student and educator. Let’s do this!

I will be around to each class sometime tomorrow as well as hosting our Meet and Greet moments with each grade level, as scheduled, in the cafeteria. I will start and end my day in the loop, directly traffic. If you need immediate assistance do not hesitate to call the office as Mrs. Thompson and I will both carry a radio each day.

We have a solid plan in place for all transitions in the day, but we know there will be a few curve balls thrown at us as well. Communicate your needs and we can problem-solve as needed.

Please be sure you have all dismissal information for your students received, reviewed, and accurate early in the day. Dismissal procedures is one area we have no room for mistakes. We are dependent on classroom teachers to assist in this process of verification and contact with families if you were unable to connect with them at Open House. Thank you for your diligence.

Please submit a class schedule to the office at your earliest convenience. It is also helpful to have a class roster and class schedule (PCL Model component) posted outside of your classroom. Thank you for taking care of both of these requests, if you have not done so already.

Bucket Fillers: Marta Nangle made contact with all families that did not come to Open House and provided specific feedback based on their enrollment status. I appreciate her initiative in taking action to help with a smooth transition for  students and families. Great Job, Marta!

Jennifer Engel, April Mulnik, and Melissa Harris have really stepped up as your Grade Level Representatives. On top of general back to school communication they have had the “opportunity” to dig into transition topics and building expectations. This has been a heavy load for each of them and I want them to know how appreciative I am for their talents and details oriented communication. We will all benefit from your extra efforts as we observe the flow of the First Day! Thank you ladies for being the leaders our CRE team needed.

Happy first day of school CRE family. Let me know how I can serve you.
